Final Four NHL Teams Coincidence or Fixed?

Did anyone else notice that the final four NHL teams vying for the 2013 Stanley Cup are also the last four teams to win the cup? The past four winners were the Los Angeles Kings in 2012, the Boston Bruins in 2011, the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 and the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009. True, these are some of the top and favored teams from the start but is this a strange coincidence or was this manipulated to keep ratings up after a lockout shortened season? The previous lockout cancelled the full 2004-2005 season and it was disastrous for the NHL. A similar disaster was averted even though the season was shortened but good news for the NHL, Playoff ratings are up.

  1. The Blackhawks and Bruins meet for the finals. Two original six teams meet in the finals for the first time in over 30 years. Even more hype for this feel good season ending right?

As a huge Hawks fans I hope I am wrong but I am going to predict the Bruins win this cup. Why, because of the Boston bombings at the Boston Marathon a couple of months ago. How fitting and possibly fixed would that be?

  2. Well, my prediction was incorrect and my Blackhawks won the cup! It was an epic series and incredible finish.

I still have to wonder how these final four teams made it to the finals, a record number of overtime games and record television ratings because of all the built up anticipation. A cinderella season which was almost canceled, something just doesn't fit.
